Colours: When they are born they are dark black/brown which fades into grey. The older the are, the 'whiter' they are.
Features: Head is large & square with a short but muscular neck. Very expressive eyes and thick mane and tail. Slightly stocky.

- Today some are used for driving, but some are still used for farming. Most are riding horses though.

- An ancient breed that was recently re-discovered, the Caspian was seen in 1965 in Amol on the shores of the Caspian Sea, where they had roamed for over 3000 years.

- Assateague and Chincoteague ponies are essentially the same breed, as they inhabit the island of Assateague off the coast of the Maryland – on the Virginia border.
- No-one knows for sure how the ponies got there in the first place...
